The transdisciplinary research at MPI-GEA combines research areas represented by all three scientific sections of the Max Planck Society (MPG): Biology & Medicine; Chemistry, Physics, and Technology; and Human Sciences. Corresponding inter- and transdisciplinary research projects concern, for example, urbanization, the global food system, Earth-system observation, and global material, energy, and information flows. The successful candidate will represent the MPI-GEA Data Center within the Max Planck Society and at international forums, fostering partnerships for data-sharing, responding to emerging technologies, and guiding interdisciplinary initiatives for geoanthropological research and Anthropocene studies.
