Your role

Are you passionate about testing robotic solutions that will revolutionize food production? We are a pioneering start-up like team within Zeiss, focused on developing advanced robotic solutions for greenhouse environments. Our mission is to enhance productivity and sustainability in agriculture through innovative automation. Join us in innovating agriculture through cutting-edge robotics and AI technology! We are in search of a skilled, creative, hands-on individual to help us test, evaluate, and improve robotic systems designed for greenhouse operations at our customers sites in Nordrhein-Westfalen. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who is committed to ensuring the continuous operation of our machines and effectively communicating issues to our development team. As the selected candidate, you will play a crucial role in development and testing of different features for our agriculture robot. We are looking for someone with hands-on mentality that thrives in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Your role

  • Conduct field testing of robotic systems within a greenhouse environment.

  • Evaluate the performance and reliability of robots under real-world conditions

  • Acquire data required to support our development efforts

  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime

  • Collaborate with the development team to report on the findings and suggest improvements.

  • Implement solutions to optimize robot functionality and efficiency

  • Maintain detailed documentation of test results and system performance

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and protocols during testing

  • Provide hands-on support for electronic components and systems

  • Interaction with and support for the customer in accommodating for their requirements and needs as well as collecting feedback


Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree or comparable knowledge level in at least one of the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, Control Software Engineering, or a related field

  • Preferred skills: Experience in agricultural technology or greenhouse operations, familiarity with control software and automation systems, hands-on experience with mechanical and electronic troubleshooting

  • Practical experience in Linux, adept at navigating systems using command-line interfaces, and skilled in debugging and modifying code

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions with ability to fix problems quickly on site, both on hardware and software side

  • Hands on mentality with profound experience in rapid prototyping / 3D printing

  • Ability to work independently, remotely and as part of a team in a dynamic environment and willingness to travel and visit different customer sides

  • Ability to adapt to changing conditions and innovate solutions

  • Excellent communication skills for reporting technical issues and collaboration with development team

  • Resilience and determination to overcome challenges and hands-on problem-solving mentality to ensure machine uptime

  • Proficiency in English, both in written and spoken communication. German is a plus

The contract is limited for 2 years.
