For our team in Düsseldorf, we are looking a Legal Counsel (m/f/d) to join us at the earliest possible starting date.
Your responsibilities
- Review new products, product features, and other product-related matters to ensure compliance with EMEA laws (including data protection laws) together with HQ legal Department.
- Coordinate with HQ Legal Department to perform multi-jurisdictional assessments in order to assist in product compliance and design.
- Update product privacy policies, assess third party relationships, and conduct compliance assessments as needed.
- Provide support as needed to assist on other company efforts (new technology implementation, internal policies, and data security efforts) as requested by HQ Legal Department.
- To proactively operate as business partner of EMEA office, providing professional and efficient legal support according to laws and regulations as well as company policies and industrial code.
- Provide legal advice on general cooperation matters.
- Review and revise legal-related procedures, policies and guidelines;
- Handle local legal disputes through negotiation, mediation or litigation; provide legal support on p government investigation;
- Coordinate legal governance of EMEA Business, including managing legal entities across EMEA
- Provide legal training to related functions when necessary;
- Other tasks as designated by Head of Legal in HQ or General Manager EMEA
Your profile
- 5+ years post-qualification experience in a reputable law firm or comparable in-house working experience in a reputable multi-national company, familiar with contract and general corporate work.
- Bachelor degree or above in German law
- Experience should include leading data privacy efforts globally/regionally for a major MNC or advising MNC clients on data privacy issues.
- Experience with analyzing products to determine their compliance with applicable data protection regulations and principles.
- Experience of managing marketing campaigns compliance on pan-EMEA level
- Experience of legal work on pan-EMEA level
- Strong sense of problem solving and proactive work ethic, excellent communication skills
- Determination to face tough challenges in a fast-paced environment while keeping a sense of humor
- Fluency in written and spoken English and German
