Reporting directly to the European Senior Director of Sales and Marketing, the Business Unit Manager (BUM) will be a member of the European Surgical Technologies (ST) Leadership Team, and responsible for the assigned business unit. The BUM will co-ordinate an organization comprised of Sales Representatives, Product Managers and Marketing Associates aimed at growing the business by making healthcare better with ST’s unique solutions. The role has full Profit & Loss (P&L) responsibility and is responsible for executing the strategic goals of the ST business in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Develop and lead the commercial strategy for the Business Unit, by incorporating Marketing, Key Account Management, Flex Finance, ProCare Service Organization, and cross-divisional Collaboration into the plan, which ultimately delivers the financial targets.
Manage and own the P&L for the BU, including achieving sales revenue, margin and operating income annual targets.
Provide accurate sales forecasts each month to the European ST finance team.
Contribute to the creation of, and responsible for the execution of the annual marketing plan of the BU.
Proactively lead the team delivering high levels of engagement which translates into financial results. Being a strong developer of people, create a future pipeline of talent for Stryker.
Manage key customer relationships (existing and new), aimed at retaining and growing the business and reputation of Stryker in the market
Collaborate with the other Business Unit Manager’s within the European ST Leadership Team and BUMs/RSMs (Regional Sales Managers) in other local franchises.
As part of the European ST Leadership Team, contribute to the development of the 5-year strategy. This includes input into marketing strategies, acquisition target identification, organization development and cross-divisional Collaboration initiatives.
10+ years overall Commercial experience.
Solid experience as Commercial or Division Business Unit Leader or Regional Sales Manager for a medical device business with proven career progression.
Direct selling experience preferred, ideally in the medical device industry; with a good knowledge of opinion leaders and of the main products and competitors.
Proven experience in delivering market share growth and financial commitments.
Experience in contributing and executing on a marketing budget and plan.
Demonstrated success in building, managing, motivating and developing strong sales teams with direct and/or indirect channels.
Demonstrated ability to build engagement and leverage performance management systems to reach business objectives; includes goal setting, performance planning and monitoring, coaching, feedback and performance review.
Educated to degree level and/or equivalent experience.
