BI X is Boehringer Ingelheim´s (BI) digital lab. Together with the BI businesses, BI X is developing breakthrough digital solutions in healthcare from idea to pilot. We are now expanding the horizon to a new level: improving human and animal health beyond the pill with a medical device software in wide range of applications: from SaMD solutions to embedded software and accessory products.
We are looking for talent to join us and co-create this brand-new unit at BI X that will operate across various geographies and multiple therapeutic areas.
In collaboration with a variety of experts from diverse professional backgrounds, you will drive the excellence of BI in building medical software from the spark of the first idea to a commercial product and further along the whole lifecycle.

As a Solution Lead, you provide the technical leadership towards the architecture, infrastructure and technical solution of modern, high-quality applications within the medical space. You own the creation of technology roadmaps, based on a clear understanding of user and business needs. You apply emerging best practices and technologies to improve reusability, scalability, testability, maintainability and resilience in our products while ensuring a consistent and compliant working environment for the product teams.

You are passionate about architecture, infrastructure, and technical solution design of complex systems under multiple constraints on highly regulated environments. As Solution Lead, you know that collaboration is key to bring out the full potential of our products and thus naturally work together with product teams and third parties on the product development lifecycle. Although experienced, you are still an active learner. You are a team player and at the same time, you inspire your peers and less experienced team members to learn and expand their skill set.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science
Experience in software as medical device or other highly regulated industry
English working proficiency and communication skills (verbal and written), German is a plus
Expertise in application/architecture design, development and testing, IT infrastructure as well as with Cloud and IoT architecture and technologies for complex systems
Experience on project functional deconstruction, use cases, architecture definition, data/information flow, and interface between the stakeholders and the technical teams
Knowledge supporting cross-functional teams to shape how technology is used
Good understanding of software system design, including applications, operative systems, network and security
Knowledge in at least one of the following technologies: Java (Spring), TypeScript, Python, Scala, PostgreSQL, Go
Know-How of development stack tools, e.g. Git, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Jenkins, Terraform, AWS is a plus
Experience developing cross-platform and native mobile applications is a plus
Knowledge of infrastructure and documentation as code is a plus
You combine creative and analytical skills to develop innovative solutions and find efficient answers to tough challenges
Complex problem solving energizes you and you enjoy challenging the teams for more innovative solutions while communicating this effectively
