RESEARCHER* – SECURITY TESTING
Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. Our research efforts are geared entirely to people’s needs: health, security, communication, energy and the environment. As a result, the work undertaken by our researchers and developers has a significant impact on people’s lives. We are creative. We shape technology. We design products. We improve methods and techniques. We open up new vistas.
The Fraunhofer-Institute for Open Communication Systems FOKUS has been researching and developing communication and integration solutions for partners from industry, research funding and public administration in the telecommunications, automotive, e-government and software development sectors for more than 30 years at its Berlin location.
For our research activities in the area of security testing in the Quality Engineering (SQC) business unit, we are looking for a Researcher* with an academic degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering or comparable fields of study.
For a research project, you will develop a method for automated security testing of complex applications by combining fuzzing and static analysis. To do so, you will enhance existing and create new approaches so that information from the source code as well as results from the static analysis can be verified automatically. In addition, you will also consider methods for precise vulnerability detection (for certain types of vulnerabilities, especially memory errors) and for detecting anomalies in runtime behavior that indicate vulnerabilities. For this purpose, you will use not only traditional methods but also those of artificial intelligence and machine learning. You will also perform and support the prototypical implementation and the evaluation on industrial case studies. This activity offers opportunities for scientific publications.
Knowledge and experience in the field of symbolic and concolic execution, the compiler infrastructure project LLVM, artificial intelligence and machine learning or static analysis would be an advantage. Independent, goal-oriented, and quality-conscious work completes your profile.
Fraunhofer FOKUS offers an extremely attractive working environment in a highly innovative key industry. You can expect a varied and challenging position oriented to the state of the art in science and technology. You will work in a dedicated, international team in which you will be able to contribute your own ideas and enjoy substantial creative leeway. Regular further training, top equipment, and a perfect work-life balance through flexible work arrangements and support measures are a matter of course for us.
Appointment, remuneration and social security benefits based on the public-sector collective wage agreement (TVöD).
In case of identical qualifications preference will be given to severely disabled candidates.
We would like to point out that the chosen job title also includes the third gender.
The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft emphasizes gender-independent professional equality.
This vacancy is also available on a part-time basis.
