Your tasks

As a research engineer you are responsible for the model and tool development for virtual design and validation, the model development and application to design of fuel cell components and the degradation of metals in cells under transient load conditions. Specifically, it is needed for the development and application of 2D/3D multi-physics models using finite-element analysis (COMSOL) and scripting/programming (Python, C++).
In addition, you combine physic-based models with data-based machine learning models to set up efficient hybrid models.
You parameterize models based on reaction networks and analyze data using multivariate statistics.
Furthermore, you coordinate cooperations with academia and industrial partners and you are the scientific guidance for the international team.

Your profile

Education: excellent degree in computational engineering, computational materials science, techno-mathematics or natural and engineering sciences and PhD with focus on modeling is preferred
Personality and Working Practice: work efficiently within an international research team of scientists and engineers to accomplish technical objectives
Experience and Knowledge: experience in the area of modeling (electro chemical) couples phenomena and their numerical implementation, in multi-physics simulation, preferibly with finite-element program COMSOL, knowledge of data science/machine learning methods and statistical data analysis (R, Python), experience in techniques for homogenization and model-order-reduction is a plus
Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken)
