DESY is developing PETRA IV, the ultimate X-ray microscope for nanoresearch with outstanding potential for industrial users and socially relevant applications in energy research, information technology, mobility, environment and medicine. PETRA IV will enable highest resolution for experiments on relevant length, time and energy scales, with a very high degree of coherence, highest brightness, as well as with all options for in-situ/operando analysis.
The PETRA IV work package WP3.08 is responsible for the PETRA IV beamline portfolio and experiments. This involves a concept development of the beamline selection process, management and organization of the work package groups within the WP3, and the development of the PETRA IV beamline technical designs.
For the development of the PETRA IV beamline technical designs, we are seeking a scientist to assist the beamline managers with the beamline optical designs using ray-tracing and wave propagation simulation tools.
Work as part of the team and assist PETRA beamline managers with the beamline design (ray-tracing, wave propagation)
Development and conceptioning of PETRA IV beamline design options
lncorporate effects of non-ideal beamline optics and heat-load into the beamline design options
ldentification and determination of spatial coherence degradation effects caused by non-ideal beamline optics
Beamline design optimizations and refinements
The position is limited to 3 years.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties.
