The Division of Systems Biology of Signal Transduction is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher.
(Ref-No. 2020-0341)
To unraveling mechanisms regulating the dynamics of BMP signal transduction and its impact on hepcidin expression with a systems biology approach, we are looking for a highly motivated postdoc. The candidate will develop a mass spectrometry-based pipeline for the quantitative analysis of plasma proteins to identify plasma factors and correlate these factors with the iron status. In collaboration with internal and external partners, he/she will develop a dynamic pathway model of BMP signal transduction in hepatocytes. To obtain absolute quantitative data for the calibration of the parameters of the mathematical model, the mass spectrometry approach will be extended to simultaneously target several cell surface receptors and cellular proteins. He/she will utilize the developed integrative model to uncover iron regulatory mechanisms that are altered in chronic liver disease.
The successful performance of this project requires a highly qualified and motivated researcher with a sound knowledge of biochemical techniques and mass spectrometry as well as an understanding of mathematical modeling and systems biology approaches. Given the collaborative and interdisciplinary aspects of this project, communication skills are key.
The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
The position can in principle be part-time.
