Postdoc Position in electrical engineering or physics for accelerator beam diagnostics

The MSK Group develops, builds and operates complex control, synchronization and feedback systems for beam control and beam diagnostics, including FLASH, PETRA III and the European XFEL.
About the role:
- Development of an arrival time monitor with femtosecond resolution for electron accelerators
- Investigation of ultra-wide band optoelectronics for laser amplitude modulation
- Full system integration including an RF signal chain up to 100 GHz bandwidth, electro-optical and fiber-optical components
- Characterization of noise, drift and stability behavior
To be successful in this role:
- Completed scientific higher education with doctorate in electrical engineering, physics, communication technologies or comparable skills and experiences
- Relevant professional experience with either high-frequency technology in the 10-100 GHz range or with optical high datarate transmission systems using electro-optical modulators
- Experience in handling high-end lab equipment (Vector Network Analyzer, Spectrum and Phase Noise Analyzer) is an asset
- Knowledge of operation and controls of accelerators is an advantage
- Strong teamwork and very good English skills
