To provide IT engineering expertise and technical coordination support services to the European Astronaut Center (EAC) in Cologne, Germany. The IT Engineer shall provide engineering support to developing and maintaining elements of the IT infrastructure, systems and applications at the European Astronaut Centre. This position is responsible for participating in the European Astronaut Center’s efforts to support innovative projects, successful outcomes from science activities on-board the International Space Station, test environments, at the EAC, and cooperative efforts with ESA’s international partners on a variety of complex engineering challenges.
EAC’s Ground Segment and Infrastructure team operates in a flexible manner to meet the needs of several communities across ISS operations, training, science and medicine. To serve these varied stakeholders the team maintains and pursues numerous IT projects and services, many of which are central to successful activities involving European crew onboard the ISS.
A strong background in IT engineering is required. Experience in the space domain is helpful but not required. EAC’s Ground Segment and Infrastructure (EAC IT) team will support any candidate in familiarization and training with the required EAC specific systems and technologies.
