BI X is Boehringer Ingelheim´s (BI) digital lab. Together with the BI businesses, BI X is developing breakthrough digital solutions in healthcare from idea to pilot. We are now expanding the horizon to a new level: improving human and animal health beyond the pill with a medical device software in wide range of applications: from SaMD solutions to embedded software and accessory products.
We are looking for talent to join us and co-create this brand-new unit at BI X that will operate across various geographies and multiple therapeutic areas.
In collaboration with a variety of experts from diverse professional backgrounds, you will drive the excellence of BI in building medical software from the spark of the first idea to a commercial product and further along the whole lifecycle.

THE ROLE
As Head of Medical Device Software Operations, you set-up, grow and foster a success- and outcome-oriented compliant environment within the BI X to develop modern consumer products in the medical space. With your expertise you drive the effective and sustainable set-up of the SrMD (Software related to Medical Device) organization. You will lead the organization in developing new processes that apply DevOps and fast feedback methods to end-to-end product lifecycle management for regulated medical software. Furthermore, you design and implement the mid- and long-term strategic business plan to ensure successful development, registration and management of Medical Device Software products. You are also the single point of contact with enabling functions in order to define and manage appropriate and efficient ways of collaboration. By that you establish BI X SrMD as a trusted partner. You will be acting as Qualified Person (PRRC) for the BI X products.
DESIRED SKILLS & MINDSET
We are looking for an innovator that provides leadership, management and the vision to successfully set-up and run Boehringer Ingelheim's first dedicated organization for end-to end development and management of Software as a Medical Device and related products. You are a digital strategist, passionate about applying lean and agile methods to the intersection of digital consumer products and medical science to develop innovative products that are engaging, safe, and effective. You easily manage to work across functions and departments in both an agile and classic working environment.
PREREQUISITES
-
Master´s degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Computer Science, Law, Pharmacy or Medicine

Qualification as Qualified Person according to § 15 AMG (German Drug Law) combined with proven experience of leading product development in a highly regulated environment

Experience building B to B to C or B to C digital/connected product organizations

Know-How building and growing agile teams

Knowledge shaping operational processes, with an emphasis on DevOps methods for continuous value creation

English working proficiency and communication skills (verbal and written), German is a plus
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

Excellent understanding and best-practice knowledge of Medical Device Software development with all its elements, risks and challenges (including agile, continuous delivery and DevOps, lean UX)

Proven experience working with consumer-facing digital products

Experience driving the success of a digital startup is a plus
