Femern A/S have recently received the final approval from the court in Leipzig to commence establishing the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, and the preparation for the construction of the 18 km long tunnel between Puttgarden in Germany and Rødbyhavn in Denmark is progressing. As project owner, Femern A/S is the company responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel. Femern A/S is a subsidiary company of the state-owned Sund & Bælt Group, who also is responsible for the Oresund Link and the Great Belt Link.

Do you want to be a part of the owner’s on-site monitoring of the work executed by the contractor on Northern Europe’s largest construction project?
Femern A/S is looking for a Construction Area Manager for activities in Germany with focus on review of the contractors’ execution method plans, and on-site monitoring to ensure that execution and the contractors’ self-verification of the works are in accordance with the requirements and ensure that Femern A/S fulfil its obligation towards the German authorities.
You will become part of the Technical Division in the Tunnel Portal, Ramps and Landworks Department.
Working alongside the Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the daily on-site construction management for activities in Germany. This involves managing and monitoring e.g. preparatory works, the establishment of railway and motorway including several bridges and underpasses, establishment of the approx. 400 meter cut and cover Tunnel Portal.
Your key tasks will include:
You have a degree in Civil Engineering or similar and more than 10 years’ experience from on-site construction management of complex projects.

It is important that you are well formulated both in writing and orally, as good communicative skills will be essential. The communication with the contractor will be in English while the communications with the authorities will be in German; the right candidate shall therefore be able to communicate sufficiently in these languages both written and orally.

Hereafter you will be based at a new established site office near the tunnel portal area at Puttgarden.
