The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) with its 1,100 employees has gained an excellent reputation as an international competence centre for environmental sciences. We are part of the largest scientific organisation in Germany, the Helmholtz association. Our mission: Our research seeks to find a balance between social development and the long-term protection of our natural resources.
Extreme events induced by climate change such as heat waves, heavy precipitation and flood events will continue to increase in the future. The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research is investigating the massive effects that can be expected from this on ecosystems and the economic follow-up costs in Germany and Europe. The necessary prerequisites for this are high-resolution environmental system models that run on high-performance computers and high-resolution in-situ and satellite-based observation data sets. For this purpose, the UFZ operates observatories and innovative observation systems (e.g. TERENO and MOSES), infrastructure platforms (e.g. CITEPro and GCEF) and modeling platforms (e.g. mHM and OGS). This creates growing challenges for handling large amounts of high quality data. The organization of the long-term availability of this research data and the connection to national and international data infrastructures (e.g. NFDI and EOSC) require modern research data management through the use of structured procedures for the acquisition, transmission, storage, quality assurance, processing, provision and publication of the valuable data.
To strengthen the research data management unit at the UFZ, we are looking for one as soon as possible:
Employee (f/m/x) in the field of information technology
