The Business Continuity Director (BCD) VP in either Munich or Frankfurt will be accountable for the end to end definition and implementation of the business continuity framework, which includes Policies, Standards and Procedures across State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI). In this capacity, the role reports jointly into the SSBI Chief Administrative Office (CAO) and the EMEA Head of Business Continuity. The SSBI BCD will be supported by the SSBI Branch based BCDs, who will report into this role (matrix).
SSBI’s continuity program is run in full alignment with the State Street Corporate Framework and includes the incident management process. The role will interface closely with and provide influence to senior leadership at SSBI, Corporate, Business Unit, and regional levels. It covers the preparation, coordination and communication before, during and after an event.
This role will co-ordinate planning for and lead the response to continuity incidents across the legal entity and coordinate with Global Security, Global Realty, IT, and Corporate Information Security as well as Business Service BCDs and incident managers globally.

As Business Continuity Director you will
Co-ordinate with branch-based BCDs across SSBI and global business service owners to ensure the requirements of business continuity program are being met, and that each location is in full compliance
Facilitate incident response and crisis calls as needed in response to unplanned business disruptions
Maintain a state of readiness and awareness of situational events and develop strong relationships with regional corporate leads (Security, Information Security, Realty, IT), global business lines, external sources, and partnerships (i.e. government emergency management, monitoring sites, etc.)
Maintain the incident response teams to provide support to the legal entity head during incidents
Create, update and maintain a full set of continuity documentation for SSBI
Establish Service Level Agreements with key service providers and agree to performance indicators
Maintain and train team members on process and procedures
Maintain an annual training program (including ‘table-top’ simulation exercises) for all groups involved in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and incident management, ensuring any highlighted remediation items are followed through to completion in a timely manner
Serve as alternate to the regional Incident Management Lead as part of a regular on-call rota and as cover for holidays
Perform major incident debriefs partnering with business leads across State Street and coordinate and monitor all post-event issue; follow-up and ensure any highlighted remediation items are followed through to completion in a timely manner
These skills will help you succeed in this role
Ability to solve practical problems, to react quickly and calmly to changing or emergency circumstances
Must be able to think strategically and tailor appropriate messages to different management levels throughout the organization
Ability to make decisions under pressure with at times limited or incomplete information
Comfortable leading and influencing without authority, up to and including the senior executive level
Education & Preferred Qualifications
Successfully completed apprenticeship or university degree
Business Continuity certification preferred (MBCP, CBCP or any other European certification)
Around 10-15 years of overall financial services experience, preferably in the areas of custody, trading, payments, clearing, and settlement
Business Continuity experience with strong incident/crisis leadership capability
Fluency in English, additional European languages beneficial
Due to the nature of incidents, non-standard work hours might be expected
Occasionally requiring long hours including nights, weekends and holidays
