Your tasks
The Amazon Redshift team, is looking for you - a quality assurance engineer with a passion for finding software defects and uncovering corner cases in new features that might detract from an outstanding customer experience.
Our cloud data warehouse Amazon Redshift manages all the work needed to set up, operate, and scale a data warehouse, from provisioning capacity and installing software to monitoring and backing up the cluster, to applying patches and upgrades. With Redshift Spectrum, our customers can easily query data from Amazon S3, thereby scaling their warehouse out to Exabytes and allowing them to integrate data in all kinds of file formats from their data lake into their analytics.
We expect you to bring relevant technical software expertise to bear. You are customer success obsessed and you have the ability to convert your experiences into impactful product enhancements. Finally, you should have the desire to have an industry wide impact and ability to work within a fast moving, startup environment in a large company to rapidly deliver services that have a broad business impact.
This position of Quality Assurance Engineer for Amazon Redshift represents an excellent opportunity to shape the technology and future of a rapidly evolving industry and business.
Your profile
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
· 5+ years of hands-on experience with the ownership of software product testing
· Experience in defining test strategy, writing test plans, designing and executing software tests for new large features at scale
· Demonstrated knowledge of professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build and release processes, continuous deployment, and test suite development and maintenance
· Demonstrated experience utilizing high-quality automation to tackle test problems
· Good working knowledge of relational databases, SQL and UNIX/Linux
· ·Good working knowledge of the Python programming languages
· Experienced debugging, diagnosing, and troubleshooting complex, production software issues
· Possess excellent communication, sharp analytical abilities, and proven design skills
· Proven ability to drive tasks to completion, work independently and take on full ownership of projects.
· Ability to work in a fast paced and agile development environment
· PhD in Computer Science or Engineering.
· Advanced SQL or relational database internals experience
· Understanding of overall system architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance in a database environment
· Experience with large-scale data analytics and data warehousing
· Experience with software quality assurance in the cloud
· Advanced training and experience in software quality metrics
