Job vacancy No. 086-2019
The Institute Theory of Polymers at the Leibniz-Institut of Polymer Research Dresden offers a
post-doc position (scientist) with 40 hours per week
in soft condensed matter theory and simulations.
The Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF) is one of the largest polymer research facilities in Germany. As an institute of the Leibniz Association, the IPF is committed to carrying out application-oriented basic research and receives its base funding in equal parts from the federal and state governments.
This opening is embedded within the interdisciplinary research unit „Adaptive polymer gels with controlled network structure“ (DFG research unit FOR 2811) and intensive cooperation with the project partners is expected. The research unit contains 14 researches (including 5 Professors) at 6 different Universities or research centers throughout Germany.
The research is focused on the field of statistical physics (theory and simulation) of phase separation and dynamics in two-component amphi-philic polymer networks. The properties of these networks (stability, modulus, relaxation behavior, equilibrium swelling, …) need to be correlated to the microscopic network structure by computer simulations and should be described with theoretical models of network theory, statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, or dynamics.
A promising candidate possesses an outstanding Ph. D. degree preferentially in physics with a
sound background of statistical and soft condensed matter physics. Advanced skills in simulation
techniques in soft condensed matter (Molecular Dynamics or Monte-Carlo simulations) are
Preference is given to severely disabled applicants, if they have the same level of qualification. IPF attaches importance to equal professional treatment of women and men. The data submitted by you in the course of the application procedure will be processed by IPF. IPF shall use the data for the purposes of the application procedure. No data shall be passed on to third parties. The costs for the interviews will not be refunded.
