Day after day, candidates search for their dream job on StepStone – that’s why we know exactly what they’re looking for and how you can make your job listing as convincing as possible.
Here we provide you with all the information you need to create a job listing on StepStone.
The uniform size and placement of the logo helps candidates to orientate themselves. The company logo is displayed in a standardized size.
You can select a header image or up to three images for an image slider. Due to the representation of your company logo above the listing, an additional integration of the logo in the header images ist not recommended. Slogans and testimonials are allowed in the header image. Content that is relevant for the search must be mentioned within the ad text.
For the slider to be displayed optimally, all pictures must have the same image size.
You don't have the right image size? Cut the pictures here.
The background image enhances the overall impression of the job listing and increases the branding effect. Choose an unobtrusive image that matches the header image.
With the new Liquid Design listing structure, the sections “Introduction”, “Your tasks”, “Your profile”, “What we offer” and “Contact” are available. The order of these sections is fixed.
Strengthen your branding by displaying the headings of the sections with your company colour. The headings can be adapted using appropriate synonyms. Additional headings within the individual sections are not possible.
Links to other job offers, external (advertisement) content and links to online application forms are not allowed, in order not to distract from the content of the job ad. Furthermore, links and text references to competitors of StepStone are not permitted.
Selected links are possible in the “Contact” section, including links to the company’s (career) website, email address, phone number or data protection declaration. Links are displayed in the colour of the section titles.
Provide further information about your company or the job by integrating a video. YouTube, Vimeo or Wistia links are all possible. Product presentations or advertising spots do not offer the candidate any added value and are therefore not permitted.
For the Google Maps location, please enter the address of the place of work. As a minimum you are required to enter the city.
Emphasise your attractiveness as an employer by including certifications or awards.
The certificates are stored in the Company Hub and will be displayed automatically in all job ads.
Certificates that include a star rating are not possible.
The job title is the first thing users see of your ad. It determines how quickly and accurately your request is found. Therefore, formulate the job title as expressively as possible.
Stick to what is tried and trusted
Candidates mostly use familiar and widely used terms when conducting a search. You should avoid using job titles that you only use in house.
Be clear
Choose a job title that clearly describes the tasks and include relevant information in the title.
Precisely state the role
“Qualified engineer specialising in automotive process technology” will attract more suitable applicants than “qualified engineer”.
Provide additional relevant information
List the required qualifications and training, e.g. “IT specialist” or a particular area, such as “controlling”.
Speak a consistent language
Choose one language throughout the job ad; avoid a mixture of German and English, for example.
Keep the wording gender-neutral
In addition to “m” and “f”, include another letter for the third gender in your job ads, e.g. “(m/f/x)” or “(m/f/d)”, in order to ensure that all genders are addressed.
No. StepStone does not publish collective advertisements – to your advantage. Your job posting is an online search request for the right candidate. Collective ads achieve a measurably poorer response because they do not contain a unique search request. If you have more than one vacancy to fill for the same position, you can of course offer this job profile in the plural: For example, you can advertise for “10 sales managers”.
Qualified candidates expect a job ad to be clearly formulated: invitations for unsolicited applications won’t make candidates feel personally addressed – and the level of response will be correspondingly low. Consequently, invitations for unsolicited applications are not permitted.
No. QR codes are designed to direct users to specific Internet content – but the candidate is already there. Candidates should be able to obtain all the information they need for an application directly from the listing. In this context, QR codes are distracting.
All information that gives candidates a clear impression of the position and of your company is necessary. This includes: job title, company description, job description, requirements profile, location and an application option via the “Apply now” button..
No. If the work location changes, a new placement is necessary. Good to know: on the first day of the listing, we send out the job agent to all suitable candidates. You will receive significantly fewer good applications if you then change your place of work. On the other hand, it is no problem to make the location more concrete at a later date, e.g. by changing “NRW” to “Düsseldorf”.
We recommend always publishing jobs ads in German, but it is also possible to publish them in English. Firmly commit to one language and give the applicants clarity. Different languages in a job listing are not allowed.
Via the StepStone “Apply now” button. Candidates will find the button directly below the job title and below the ad. The button is linked, for example, to the StepStone application form or to your applicant management system.
No, due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in force since May 2018, it is not permitted for customers to integrate tracking pixels in job advertisements. The protection of user data has priority here.
You can link to your privacy policy in the "Contact" section.
If necessary, a note on your data protection can be included in the contact section if this content relates to the application documents or the application process and does not exceed a maximum of 4 lines.
