DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. More than 2400 employees work at our two locations Hamburg and Zeuthen in science, technology and administration.
Accelerator research at DESY is being sustainably expanded within the framework of the Helmholtz ARD programme. The Helmholtz ARD programme focuses on the establishment and coordinated research for future accelerators throughout Germany. DESY concentrates on conventional and plasma-based electron accelerators with applications for photon science, particle physics and atto-second technologies. In this context, a group for the development and construction of high-performance lasers with very high peak power of up to petawatts and high average powers of up to several tens of kilowatts will be established. For this purpose, a scientist will be sought as group leader.
